Another busy month and here I am, wondering when I have as much time as two years ago again… Life is strange. Anyways, left: the last bits of cutting a lot length off my hair. Now they are all the same length and I can start with growing them as long as possible so only cutting the broken tips. center: Nighttime in my new flat. Shadows in my living room. right: Got my belated halloween parcel from a friend, former blogger from Australia, so happy even though most of the chocolate went to the visitor-sweets-bowl due to gluten. I remember how amazing they tasted from the past so it was really hard to resist and I forced the first person who visited to eat all of them!

Maybe these thoughts / questions would be useful as inspiration or someone knows the answer? (If none of these, hopefully at least they would be entertaining.)

list-bat-png 2017 was 50/50 so far, on the bad side I lost two people I knew who passed away and had to wave one of my closests friends goodbye who moved away 400kms and who I already know I will miss so horribly much and makes me cry even thinking about that. On the job / financial side though 2017 did start quite good, found someone who bought the rental deposit papers from my previous flat from me and talked to my bosses that I want to work an extra mini job with them for a while which brings me a step closer to the saving point in my 3-year plan.
list-bat-png Been browsing Amazon Prime for some app with a fireplace for my TV. Even though I read the ratings I managed to purchase one that broke down after only a few seconds. In the end though there are some movies that I added to my watchlist instead. Those work, often are for free and won’t break down. An 4 hour long clip is long enough as well! Do you have any recommendations for must haves on amazon prime?
list-bat-png First WGT Bands got announced and I really can’t wait for The Mission and Illuminate! From listening through the bands I did not know before Masquerade made it to my list of bands that I am hoping to see this year!
list-bat-png Complete energydrink detox strangely lead to my blood prassure rising and nose bleeding. Or at least it has been like this for the two weeks that I did not drink them.
list-bat-png My mom and I are excited for her appointment for the BRCA test that she has been waiting for nearly a year now. According to my doctors she has to get them done before they will do mine. Wondering what I am talking about? My family has a very high risk of breast cancer and since I am looking closer into my health stuff these days I decided to get a blood test done, they can see if you have a gene that causes one type of breast cancer. If this is the case you can at least do something against that bomb waiting in your body.
list-bat-png Stumbled upon a cruelty free company who specializes in skincare who, like me suffer from acne and who also do have products for scars, lines, rosacea and other skin conditions that make people be desperate. Looking forwards to my order and will do a detailed review. They do have quite high prices but if it works as good as some reviews I’ve seen promise it will be worth the money!

list-bat-png Movies and things: Did a binge watching weekend of the Vikings series, totally love this but now I am afraid there might not be much more episodes? I also enjoyed ‘Automata’ but that probably was no surprise, post apocalyptic or zombie movies, always!
list-bat-png Books: Still re-reading my job related books but did add like a million of dark / horror / gothy adult drawing books to my amazon wishlist as well as pencils. I somehow want to also use 2017 to get more creative again, easiest way and required for most things (like creating sculptures, clothes,…) would be drawing, so here’s a start I guess!

Batfit 17-01 & Gear review Movit Hip Hoop!

January 1st our dear Professor wrote about Batfit being 5 years old. This year she started by giving us a lot of new challenges in the first week already, exercising 30mins (which I do 2 days then 1 day off), relaxing (for me some yoga poses after workout and streching, like corpse pose, simply being there, breathing and concentrating on my body and soul. Or on my pamper days aka my no-workout days)

Progress in January

Food: First working on drinking habits, need to stay gluten free because I am not doing this for some trend but to avoid my migraines and stomach pains (don’t worry, saw some doctors to understand that my body really can’t handle gluten, diagnosed celiac disease) and I am trying to get somewhat back to a montignac based diet throughout the year. My self set rules for lowering sugar intake and all that will not be followed as strict while I travel and if there is some craving I think it is ok if only happens once a week.

list-bat-png Goal was to change my energy drink intake that grew a lot during the moving months back to 1 can / day max and instead switch to coffee if I feel the lack of caffeine, definitely will try to also drink less coffee later this year but for now I am happy that I did so well.

list-bat-png Goal was to drink about 750ml Water and 1.5l Tea. Or however mixed healthy liquids each day. Of course more is ok but my skin and body need this amount of water.

A few days didn’t go as well (let’s say 2 instead of 1 day / week of breaking my self set rules) but every little bit helps! Next month I will try for these goals again as well as working on food.

Numbers: No scale in my new flat yet and none at work either but lost some cms in all the places I was hoping to lose some. Still there are more important things than numbers and so maybe I will try to ban them from my mind. Even though I would love to copy our professors 40by40 as a 30by30 but maybe, just maybe I wanted too much too fast, this can break you. I do set my big goals and add a few tiny steps in between which I will share with you. No numbers, no dates, for now. Maybe this would count as some ’emotional / psychological health goal’?

Workout: For me means a mixture of ballett, yoga and weights. 15 mins right after standing up, before the shower and 15-30 minutes sometime during the day, one or two days off each week and when I am not home. the first bit of workout is easily done and might be upgraded to 20 minutes each day, the second part I managed to do maybe half of the days this month, will set this as goal for February again, two days workout, one off and those days that I’m not at home will be off as well.

Mental: I guess everyone who follows this blog or my social media might have noticed that 2016 for me was a horrible year, emotion wise and with everything related to my mind as well. Did do some changes and a 3-year plan but let’s save this for another future Batfit post because it would contain too much writing.

Gear review: Movit Hip Hoop!

Amazon, you are a devil. I do have quite some wishlists there, for my flat, for my wardrobe, dvds, books and a slowly growing one for fitness gear to use for my everyday workout at home, to build up some different workout sets so it won’t get boring. While I was browsing for some new weights there was this black and green hula hoop, with 1.3kgs weights that made it into my shopping cart the exact same moment. Since hula hoops probably are something nice to add to everyones workout routine I never really thought about getting one before.

The hoop is split in 8 parts that you have to put together, you can also take them apart again to easily transport them in a bag or something instead of carrying that 96cm wide hoop with you built together. That is something good but also means that the hoop is not as silent as one-piece-things are and if you live in a house where you could hear your neighbors snore through the walls you might not want to use it at night.

First day was as bad as I thought, 5 minute timer and only managed to keep the hoop up for maybe 10 rounds once. Within a week though I was able to keep it up for a minute. Let’s see how long it will take until I can keep it up the entire daylie 5 minutes! By the way, it feels good to do this after a bit of yoga in the morning! Of course, due to those green plastic bumps I got some really painful bruises but as soon as they vanished my skin felt so much more firm and I noticed some great loss of fat. Might, of course, be an illusion but I guess what feels good is good.

2017 resolutions! & 2016 Recap!

Hey there, Internet and happy new year!

2017, Year of the rooster, wondering what you have in stores for us? 2016 to me had more negative aspects than any other year I can remember, not talking about the millions of celebrity deaths but about my many many wrong decisions and trusting people I should not have trusted, spending energy, emotions and money on people and for things that I could have invested better, but well, guess I needed that experience to learn something? Good things though are the new job and new flat, I finally have a place where I feel home (this most probably will not last forever since I know I am a ‘city person’ and one day I will move to 500k+ again but well, for now!). Really trying to focus on the good things for 2017, online and in real life. I want to spend some quality time with people I love and add something to that pile of memories, will continue to work on myself and see what will happen.

list-bat-png Blog: I need to get back into my posting schedule for sure, am kind of annoyed that I didn’t manage to do this yet because I let things getting me down. Everything else can’t be predicted I guess. Maybe though will swith to every 4th day instead of 3 because of travelling…

list-bat-png Will be working on my Youtube channel as well as my Etsy shop which probably will be started in February when Justkeepbrains will celebrate its next Blogversary. But not 100% sure on that yet, some time next year and very slowly, Blog comes first.

list-bat-png Events: Wave Gotik Treffen, Autumn Moon Festival and maybe a third one, I have a long weekend off work each month so there probably will be some concerts or clubbing nights as well! Most probably Berlin Area because the end of 2016 brought some nice people from there into my live!

list-bat-png Work: Hoping to stay in the new job for the year, love the work (intensive care again), the workmates are amazing, I can work additional hours to earn some more and in March I start a postgraduate training that I really am looking forwards to!

list-bat-png Batfit & health: Well, it is about time, the progress I made before moving are long forgotten and my clothes don’t fit as good anymore, of course already started again but since we are talking resolutions I thought I woudl mention. Detailed post at the end of the month again. I also want to learn more about gluten free cooking so I can have more than ‘salad’.

list-bat-png Family and friends: I want to meet my mom at least twice this year, maybe she also wants to come to Oldenburg for some vacation since it is pretty close to the coast! Even though I am looking for new friends over here I definitely will travel through Germany and meet my friends there as well.

list-bat-png My Cave: That’s the first thing I want to finish this year, hopefully within the first half. Trying for that ‘everything is finished’ feeling so the time I spend in this city will feel home. Afterwards the money will be spent on my car as well as trying to save up so in case of sudden gypsie feet I would be able to move again.

Batfit 16-09 & Gear review weighted gloves by ‘Mov it’

Hey there, Internet!

* Batfit is a ‘challenge group’ by our dear Professor Z where all kind of (darkly inclined) people try to motivate each other to get healthier or change / do whatever in their lives to feel better.

Health update: Pain is still down on a level I can take. No painkiller since August, 4th!

Emotional update: Back to normal. Of course there are some bad moments, I am human but not as bad as last month!

Body update: currently at 75kgs, going down – hoping to reach the ‘6s’ this year!

I think this is quite some good changes, really looking forwards to the next few months to see how close I can get to my 23/25-yr-old stomach!

Workout update: Still 1hr / 4days each week. Afterwards covered in more salty water than any ocean can offer and with a skin more red than any sunburnt person I’ve seen this year.

Gear upgrade: I already mentioned this in the Batfit Facebook group, this month I got some 2kgs weighted gloves from Amazon. Actually wanted to get bigger weights than the tiny 2kg ones I currently use but since the others seem to have different materials as middle part, which is simply perfect on mine (no sweat, no nothing) gloves were my choice this time. Started adding them on a day off work because first time with new gear I like to start with double time and time to rest afterwards! I still only managed to go through half of my workout but this made me set this months short term goal!

Short review: I bought the Mov it (Power and vitality) 2kg weightd gloves / wristbands from Amazon. They had mixed reviews but with 9.99€ I could not resist. They were available in three colors (red, blue and black – of course went with black) in 4 different weights (0.5kgs-2kgs, filling depends on what size you buy), fabric is neoprene and I hope maybe this will prevent sweat from sticking inside so they won’t smell bad after a few times of use. Some reviews mentioned sand falling out of their weights but since 2kgs are not filled with sand I can’t tell if this is what you get with the less heavy ones, mine arrived in a good condition. The Velcro closure is nice but I have tiny wrists so they are a bit loose on me, could fix with the thumb loop but those feel too tight and the fabric here is a bit rough on my skin. Still I am happy with them and for that kind of money I think it is a good investment in building muscles on my arms and I think I will do some researches on other gadgeds that might or might not help with my long term goals!

September Batfit goal: Go through entire workout with the weighted gloves. Achieved but probably will have to start at the beginning again when house moving thing is done because when working nightshifts, then driving 3hrs to attend a flat viewing and apply for it, then driving back 5 or more hours because of traffic jam your freetime activity  is trying to get some sleep in your car and decide if you want fries or coleslaw for dinner…
