The Entertainer Blogger Award

Hey there, Internet!

The lovely Shameful Narcissist tagged me in one of her latest blogposts for the entertaining blogger award. She was one of the first blogs I followed after returning to the blogosphere and I am happy to have met her here on wordpress (and actually nearly all social media sites excisting as well). It always is impressing how fast she can read the books on her list and write detailed reviews for them and how many interesting posts she can throw out, take a look at her fanfictions for example!

And sure, since I think those tags and awards are a lovely way to get to know other bloggers / blogs you might not know about yet, count me in!

skelanimal - diego the bat

sorry have to break that rule of posting the picture but whatever I did it would look strange in this post…

The Rules of the Entertaining Blogger Award:

list-bat-png Write a post including the award picture. (which can be found here)
list-bat-png Nominate 12 other bloggers who are funny, inspiring and most importantly entertaining!
list-bat-png Add these rules to the post.
list-bat-png Thank the person who nominated you and leave a link to their blog!
list-bat-png Also, answer the questions below.

The questions:

list-bat-png Why did you start to blog in the first place? It was 2010 on blogspot, I wasn’t really aware of big blogs, thought they were just some kind of online diary, maybe like myspace to connect people. And since it is always nice to meet new people I tried and really enjoyed what happened. Then I had to take a break (due to real life stuff) but came back with a fresh blog (Justkeepbrains) in February 2015.

list-bat-png What is your favourite book? This is a difficult one already, I usually like those books the best that are for studies but some other books are in my (currently very small, stupid moving addict!) collection that I really love, one would be something I doubt there is an english translation for: Das Selbst war ein Grufti, Leben und Tod eines Frankfurter Gothics. written by Stefanie Neuberg. Another amazing book with story and a lot of information would be by Peter Hook – Unknown Pleasures, the Joy Division Story.

list-bat-png What do you dislike the most? Mankind ignoring what is happening around them in general, be it nature, be it politics, social, whatever. We tend to care about so many things but the important ones get ignored. That and double standards, I know everyone sometimes does it but in case of court or work this should not happen since it is not part of any professional behaviour.

list-bat-png What is your favourite food item from the mall? Well, since my doctors told me to stay off gluten (which caused my migraines) it is quite impossible for me to find food at the mall that I can eat. Maybe sushi without soy sauce? Maybe some of those smoothies? Or maybe something from Starbucks?

list-bat-png What is your favourite past time activity? Spending time with friends. No matter what we do, I even enjoy to help them clean their houses, meeting those people does not happen often enough though.

The blogs I would like to nominate (and sorry if you already did this, only nominating 6 though simply because I love all blogs I follow and you can see some of them in my monthly random posts anyways!)

list-bat-png Stacy from Magic Love Crow who always shares the most beautiful crow art with us!
list-bat-png Samm Sanity from Blood, Lace and Faeries who I still owe to do the hair tag, will do that one later this month though! (unless I mess everything up again) and who is on her way doing her sewing and writing things!
list-bat-png Lenelein from Mindless Indulgence whose sewing projects are SO amazing!
list-bat-png Lauren from Alien Scribe, even though I’ve heard rumors of a blogging break, love her stories!
list-bat-png Lynoire from Space Unicorn Attack getting better at her Cosplay projects all the time!
list-bat-png Lorkyn from Dark Wooden Path, Love the mixture of her DIY projects, nature, sewing and so on!

What do you think about awards / tags in the blogosphere? Plain annoying or a nice way to discover new blogs? Have a nice evening!

Beautiful Blogger Award!

Hey there, Internet!

Lovely Brooklyn girl and mother of faeries, Glendaly (Lamamahada) Nominated me for the beautiful blogger award. Thank you so much for that – also, I am happy I met you (blog & youtube) this year, you definitely are a great inspiration in many ways! As mentioned in previous, similar posts I love exploring new blogs and hope some of my readers do the same and maybe find a blog they like in these posts!

skelanimal - diego the bat

So the rules for this Award / Tag are:
* Thank the person who nominated you
* Write 7 facts about yourself
* Nominate 5-10 beautiful bloggers that you love reading.

7 facts about me (That I hopefully did not already post somewhere before…?)
* I’m not a red-fan-girl. Strange fact? Let me explain: A lot of goth brands like to add bloody reds to their clothing or accesories. Of course the blood reference is nice and I see why so many darklings like to add red to their outfits but I prefer simple monochrome looks or maybe a hint of orange / green. When looking at my wardrobe you might only find 5-10 pieces with red in them. Have to add though that I love my car which actually is red.
* Sometimes I will not correct mistakes by autocorrect because they will make my friends laugh!
* I often am covered in bruises and scratches without knowing what I did, always was this way so my mom tends to call me ‘Chaoten-Paula’ a lot.
* The television in my flat is only used for my N64, maybe a DVD but I have not had a cable to actually watch TV for 6-7 years now and I don’t regret living ‘behind the moon’
* My sense of direction is worse than that of a nut, nuts at least know where the floor is located.
* When going out a lot of my friends enjoy collecting spiders and putting them in my backcombed hair so they would move in and add some webs for the night!
* I spend far too much time cleaning my flat. At this point I am blaming the fact that I still am missing a lot of furniture and hoping it will get better as soon as a single item will not be able to make my flat look like a complete mess.

Bloggers I would like to nominate
* Samm Sanity (Blood, Lace, and Faeries)
* M. (The Girl loves Makeup)
* Maria (DeusXMachina)
* The Shameful Narcissist (The Shameful Narcissist Speaks)
* Louise (Queens of the wild Frontier)
* you?

Did you recently find any new blogs you enjoy reading and would like to share? Have a nice evening!

Quote of the Day Challenge!

Hey there, Internet!

M. (The Girl Loves Makeup) tagged me for this here! Her blog-title says it all, great reviews on makeup but with a personal touch – even though her name is still a secret (which I guess is quite hard these days, kind of remembers me of Fran Fine who was able to keep her age a secret, even impossible to find out for CIA, anyone remembers that show?)

And since I love reading and doing tag-things I for sure am in! Also, since browsing through the blogs mentioned in other people’s random posts, tags and awards I tried to tag blogs that I follow, love but haven’t tagged / nominated for things before. Do you like to explore other blogs? take a look at previous award posts or at the bottom of my monthly random posts (writing this maybe I should take a day or two to work on the categories for my posts, because those random posts don’t have their own category yet!)

skelanimal - diego the bat

There is one rule for this tag: Post one quote a day and tag three people to do the same, for three days.

I will not do this challenge the way I am supposed to do though, because I prefer to stick to my schedule so let’s just pretend this post is actually three posts and by reading it three days will pass (be careful, you might not want to read it on fridays then!)

Quote 1 Nothing matters but knowing nothing matters (Wicked Musical, Dancing through life. To be honest I have no clue if this is the origin or if they already used a quote as well but that is what I try to remember, we take a lot of things much too serious, think about unimportant things far too much and doing so we forget to enjoy the good moments and simply life.)
People tagged
– Sylvie / Little Corp Goth Girl
– Becki / Follow the dreamer / Aspiring writer with the love for all things unique
– Lauren / Creme de Lauren

Quote 2 Du kannst! So wolle nur! (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Faust. One of my favourite authors, he has written so many inspiring things that it would be difficult to even pick a favourite quote but this one to me is quite motivating and makes me remember that sometimes things you think are impossible actually are not.)
People tagged
– Cathy / Orphea333
– 3llepalmer / The weirdo.
– Brian / Wolfworx Photography

Quote 3 Black is such a happy color. (Addams Family, probably a tough battle for sterotypical goth-blog-quotes, Poe? Addams Family? Cure song quote? This one won, in honor of the goth depression discussion going on these days and simply because it is true, black is a happy color!)
People tagged
Asylum Attendant
– Emily McCrary / Terminal|Distraction
– ❤

Last tag is to everyone reading this post who would like to join, or maybe you would like to share your favourite quote in a comment? Have a nice evening!

The Darkling Tag (& YouTube)!

Hey there, Internet!

The cute & amazing Samm Sanity tagged me for the Darkling Tag (on her blog ‘Blood, Lace, and Faeries’ and on her youtube chanel ‘Victim of Sanity’). I usually only use my YouTube to watch the awesome community videos over there but this tag was screaming for being put into a video so here we go! (underneath of course the blogging-style version of it including the people I tagged…)

I’d like to tag

Meghan from Sass a Frass
Louise from Queen of the Wild frontier
Denise from Gothic soul flower

even though i would love to see everyone doing this and getting to know you better!

Questions:

* What is your favorite candle scent?
As in real candle scent (and not in incense sticks) it would definitely be Witches’ Brew from Yankee Candles. Those last forever and make me instantly switch to comfy mood. Sadly Yankee Candles aren’t that easy to find here in Germany (except from Amazon) which makes me usually go for simple Opium scented candles.

* Do you have a favorite book?
Could not choose one. I collect books about bats, ravens, zombies and spooky or morbid things and actually love all of my books, depending on my mood.

* Are you a tea or coffee person?
I do love my homemeade fresh herbal teas but I think I still would prefer coffee especially after falling out of my bed.

* What is your favorite brand and color of lipstick?
Another thing depending on my mood but these days the most often I grab my Stargazer Glitter Lipstick in black. On other days I probably would go for dark red/browns.

* What is your favorite perfume/cologne?
Would be ‘Columns of Hercules’ from Perfume Noire. If you want a ‘known’ brand though it would be ‘Coco Noir’ from Chanel with a bit of Lush’s Lust here and there – mix & match scents I guess? Still missing a nice herbal scent though!

* Do you have a celebrity crush?
I guess we all do have one…?

* If you had to give up the color black, what color would you choose instead?
Would switch to some brownish green and turn myself into something like an Absinthe-Faerie!

* If you could change your name to a stereotypical 90s/2000s gothy name, what would it be?
I don’t think I’ve had one of the stereotypical 90s/2000s gothy names. My friends back then used my real name or used minimizations of ‘bat’ / ‘Fledermaus’ in german simply because you could have found me in the attic watching the bats quite often. But nope, no stereotypical names, sorry. If I could change my name to anything I would go with the Ramona Schnauzevoll that I use online these days.

* What are your top three tips for surviving hot weather while black clad?
As can bee seen in my latest post: Big hat, fan and wide cut thin clothing.

* What song will always make you happy (doesn’t have to be a goth band)?
Joachim Witt, Goldener Reiter, childhood memories coming up!

* Are you active in the arts (ex. Play an instrument, paint, write, etc)?
I paint, I write but I don’t have the guts to really show my art. Then again DIY!

* If you had a teacup or mug made inscribed just for you, what would you have it say?
If it could be a picture only it would be a bat throwing glitter like Tinkerbell does with her faerie-dust. If it had to be something written I’d like it to be my favourite quote ‘Nothing really matters but knowing nothing matters’, if it had to be something personal I would have no idea at all.

* What is your number one non-gothy hobby?
I would say gardening but then again there is a Facebook gardening group for goths…

* If you could be a supernatural creature, what would it be & why?
A faerie! nature, magic, wings, what else would you want?

* What horror monster-based super power would you have?
Maybe not horror monster based but it would be awesome to actually understand what animals said.

* Do you feel confident or comfortable interacting with other Goths or gothy people (online or IRL)? Why or why not?
Definitely feeling comfortable, online and in real life. Simply because the most people close to me would be ‘darkly inclined’. I get really shy talking to ‘normal’ people though because I never know what we could talk about.

* Which is more important for a look: Great hair or great makeup?
Great corset? Sorry, probably great makeup since I actually like messy hair a lot.

* Is there something you wish there was more of in your subculture?
Um… I don’t know. Actually it is good the way it is, the changes during the years could have been worse and when you look close you can definitely find a bit of everything. Maybe some more clubs would be nice, especially those with two different floors are rare and I don’t like the forced breaks when the music is a complete different genre then to what you would like to dance to.

* Care to share an embarrassing story related to your “darkliness“?
Errrrrrm, maybe another day? To be honest right now I don’t remember one.

* How are you at DIY?
Busy! There always is at least one project I’m working on.

* Quickly describe your ideal wedding.
Medieval inspired! All my friends and family enjoying the tasty food & drinks, music and fireplay. That if there ever would be a wedding.

Confessional (aka True or False):

* I love watching cheesy romance films.
Errrrm. False, I get into that mood maybe once or twice a year.

* I ALWAYS remember to wash off my makeup at night.
False. I forget about that as soon as I fall asleep. But I can take off my lashes perfectly and without damage even when I’m totally drunk.

* I sleep with plushies.
False. I do have my doll Julia sitting on my windowsill and some bat- and spider-plushies all around my flat but actually none in my bed.

* I wear non-black pajamas most nights.
False, all black.

* I still listen to a boy band that had disbanded years ago.
False. I do have a few 90’s pop songs around though!

* I think Andrew Eldritch is overrated.
False. I don’t think a person can be over or underrated.

* I don’t like vampires.
False. I like them as long as they are not sparkling. The only exception from my love for glittering things.

* I don’t like clubs.
False. As soon as I have a Friday or Saturday off I head to a club, dancing, meeting friends, enjoying the music and looking at awesome, happy people.

* I’m dating a goth/darkly-inclined person.
False. Dating noone.

* I don’t enjoy graveyards.
Half true, half false. The first memories of graveyards I have are the ones from my fathers funeral. I love old, abandoned graveyards though!

* Blood makes me queasy.
False. Otherwise I would have the wrong job.

* I’d sooner faint than pet a spider.
False. Spiders are useful and I like them in every corner of my flat (yes, talking to them, too.) If they get close to my bed they will be taken and put into a free corner. It was also amazing when I was able to touch a friends tarantula. Probably spiders would be a pet I would think about adopting.

* I don’t like haunted houses.
False. Stereotyping here, I love everything with that kind of backstory!

* I still browse Hot Topic’s clearance racks.
False. Sadly there is no hot topic or similar stuff around here, if I ever visit the USA I will take a look at a Hot Topic though for sure!

* I’ve never read Dracula.
False. Read it, liked it.

* I think “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” is a long & boring song.
False. Is in my playlist, hence like it!
