Review: Regalrose Jewelry!

Hey there, Internet!

Today’s post is about a company that the lovely Blogger Zoe (Beaufou Jewellery Box) introduced a while ago. As soon as she did show those hair spikes from Regalrose.co.uk I was in love. Just something different than the clips one usually adds to their hair.

Two orders within a few weeks? Guess why!

First order happened after trying to resist for a while and it took about a week for the Phoenix silver hair spikes to arrive, in some cute white envelope, filled with dried petals and the cardbord packaging of the spikes. They have three different packages available (short, medium and long hair) and knowing that I am still growing my hair I went with the long hair package which contains 16 spikes for 21GBP. Taking a closer look at them they actually look like piercing jewelry. My hair did hold them quite good but for dancing I recommend adding an extra bit of hairspray or backcombing, when you move your hair does the same and the spikes will try to take advantage of this and slip through the spaces between your hair!

Second order was placed when I saw their Elvin silver hair twists, as well decided to go with the biggest package which was 16 leaves for 18GBP. Those can simply be twisted into your hair and make braids look like they are overgrown by some tiny silver plant! The Wild wood delicate wrap ring (16GBP) followed them into my shopping cart. It is made from 925 sterling silver which means no skin turning green and I love the fact that it is adjustable in size! Shipping as well happened fast, packaging was the same as for the spikes, the ring came in a little pouch with Regalrose logo on it.

Metal jewelry that still does look natural!

I guess I will definitely head back to regalrose because those two orders went really well and the products so far look as good as I was hoping while being reasonable priced. Love the natural look their stuff has and as mentioned in the beginning I am happy for everything hair accessory wise that is not just clips.

Anything from this shop that you would add to your wishlist? Or maybe already have something in your collection? Have a nice evening!

So you are one of those ‘Food-Nazis’

Hey there, Internet!

This phrase (in German but still) was what I got when I wanted to buy some fries today. I kindly asked the salesman if he could tell me if the sauce was gluten-free and his reply was ‘So you are one of those Food-Nazis?’. I instantly turned around without buying. Knowing there is a trend of people having Gluten (or whatever) free diets this question obviously was ok for him and he tried to do a joke I guess. For anyone who (like me) suffers from intolerances this was quite painful so here is a bit of background story.

Living healthy with allergies or food intolerances can be a pain.

I was a kid with a lot of allergies, also didn’t like meat so my mom had to try a lot of different things to convince me, back in the early 90s that’s what people would do. During my pubescence most of my allergies disappeared and I ate everything but warm spinach (you know, when it gets mushy). I sometimes did have a pain in my stomach, but thought it was normal, same with the migraines, as a teenager you don’t think about that too much, parties might cause hangovers, so you would blame the last party. That party for sure was fun so you would not want to look closer into the pain.

When I was 16 though the pain in my stomach was enough to get me collapsing, pale, barely able to move or breathe, doctors thought it could be a ruptured appendix, luckily they did not start any surgery before some more tests were done. My appendix is still with me, it was not reasonable for my pain. One of the doctors I saw during that time thought it could be lactose that made my stomach hurt so much. Tests were done and I had to start looking into ingredients again, ask for them, try to avoid lactose. If not possible I would have to also take a lactase pill. That was 2003 when soy products were quite new in Germany and tasted horrible, got better throughout the years. The pain in my stomach did not completely disappear but was a lot better, migraines stayed but because nobody knew where they came from doctors decided it was because of my arachnoid cyst and there would be nothing they could do about it besides the painkillers. Then there were a few years of bad and good eating habits, diets, weight differences but everything was still ok. I sticked to Montignac method mainly and simply left out lactose.

In 2014 / 2015 though the pain was back in all its glory, migraines tunred worse as well and left me confused, tests were done, all different kind of diseases were suspected, again. All they found out was that my body had some pretty big infection. At that time I saw a few fellow bloggers post about similar problems and the reason for most was gluten, that was what I told my doctors to look into as well because we got quite desperate. More tests were done, eating habits were changed and again more tests were done. Result: Now I would have to stop eating gluten containing stuff as well. As far as I know there is not such a nice pill for gluten as there is for lactose so permanent abandonment it is. Tried for a while and it worked. Stomach pain is completely gone and migraines only show up maybe once a month for 3 days and less intense as they were. This though ends in more reading of ingredients, of more asking salesmen, of more tears when shopping for food or eating at restaurants. Most companies write tiny notes that all their products might contain tiny bits of gluten even when no gluten is listed directly in the ingredients, fear of pain is big enough to keep me even away from those products – last time I tried to buy some chocolate I was reading ingredients for 30 minutes and in the end found not a single bar that I could buy. There are alternatives for cooking / baking most of the things one would wish for but still, eating outside will force me to ask and this experience today was one of a few. No Sir, I am not just a Food-Nazi (and I hate that word.), I simply am afraid of pain, pain that will last for days!

And yes, besides one energy drink each day I still try to stick to Montignac method most days (unlike today) while taking care of my lactose and gluten intolerances. In the end I wonder what if I was vegan or vegetarian on top. I still don’t like eating meat too much but maybe once in two months or on festivals with a medieval market I have a Mutzbraten or something similar. I could eat even less stuff than I can now and probably get comments like the one today even more frequently. Then again there is hope, hope of more alternatives to find in stores in the future (especially with the whatever-free diet trends these days), and the hope that no more intolerances or food allergies will be found in my body.

Do you have to cut some food from your meals as well? Is it easy in your area to get alternatives? Have a nice evening!

Today’s Outfit & Makeup 16-04

Hey there, Internet!

Springtime to me means heading to the car doctor for a checkup what repairs they think would be required to get done during the warm season and also do some beauty stuff (aka not required soon but why not do them now). I am happy to have found a place that obviously can handle older, american, cars in the town that I currently live in. Even though I could have gone shopping, as always I preferred to stay with my Dickerchen, learn something new and watch the repairs. This means no skirt or corset so I wore some of my new Rockinbones clothes, review on that company will be done in a few days!

Admitting I am addicting to jewelry and belts that sounds like tiny faerie bells… so since I went without (a lot) of jewelry at least this belt had to be worn.

Anyone else here feels for their car as if it was a family member? Have a nice evening!

Time for a watch – etNox!

Hey there, Internet!

I may have mentioned or maybe not, after being annoyed by the fact that as soon as my mobile runs out of energy I have no idea of what time it is I was browsing the internet for a watch. Maybe more than one because it is not possible to have one watch that would suit all different kinds of outfits.  Amazon definitely has some nice looking and affordable watches, same with different goth and mainstream online shops. Liked a few, added to wishlists and that word document where all different kind of things are saved to. But a few weeks ago I finally fell in love with a watch. Since I have placed a few orders at this particular webshop before, I knew I had to do it now or it might not be available ever again. Done and received my watch in its beautiful metal case within less than a week.

Now, this is something between a watch and jewelry! Pentacle Time by etNox.

I was extra excited to see it is by etNox, a company that I have a few jewelry items from already and so far haven’t had any bad experiences, nothing broke, no skin turning hulk-like green, no nothing! Guess this means a lot of happy nights with my new watch! The wristband is made from pleather. The clock-face is covered by a hinged metal piece with a huge pentagram and tiny triquetas, those celtic knots can also be found in a slightly bigger version on the wristband.  Even the amount of red in this is ok for me. As probably mentioned in some Outfit posts red is not a color one could find a lot of in my wardrobe but I can deal with their brands logo on the dial.

1604 watch gothic jewelry etnox pentacle times clasp

The only thing I do not like too much…

The only thing I am not happy about is the tiny buckle clasp thing, while trying to close it in the smallest spot that tiny bone (Or however one would call it correctly) did not stay in place but went through the buckle leaving me desperate for 5 minutes on how to get it out there again, how to open the wristband, how to get the watch off my wrist again! Eventually managed to get it off, now being a bit more careful while pulling it through so it won’t happen again. Maybe will have to ask some people if they can replace it with another clasp. Knowing my luck if I won’t I will one day not be able to get it off again before work.

How about you showing us your watches? Or do you have some other jewelry by etNox? Have a nice evening!
