Mobile! Dead Runner!
Hey there, Internet!
May, 6th I told you about one of my favourite mobile apps (Zombies, Run!) which was spooky themed and for fitness. But of course there also are some nice apps and games that you don’t have to go out for, those that are very useful when you’re on the bus or during your break at work, one of those probably would be ‘Dead Runner’ which was one of the first mobile apps I’ve ever downloaded (yes, I was late becoming a smartphone victim) and still enjoy playing with.
The game (published in 2010) is available for Apple (0,99€ but totally worth it!), Android (free) and some other devices as well, it is rated to be suitable for ages 12 and up. You can connect your account to the Game Center to share your scores.
Dead Runner works with motion controll, means you will have to tilt your mobile to turn right or left. Admitting I still am impressed that this is possible at all. In this game you will find yourself in a nightmare-like dark forest surrounded by spooky background sounds, your task is to not run into the haunted trees or gravestones and crosses, simple as it sounds the longer you run of course makes the game become more difficult. While this sounds quite easy I still think it is one of the most entertaining games I’ve ever tried and is my go-to game in moments of boredom.
Official Publisher’s description: You wake up in a dark forest, surrounded by the sounds of the wailing souls trapped in the haunted trees. The howling wind is delivering a chilling message of evil which is drawing closer by the second. You cannot hide or stop for it can see you, find you and take you.
You can choose between thee different playmodes which come with easier and more difficult challenges each. Distance Mode is what it says about how long you can run without hitting a tree or gravestone, running into bushes will make you run slower for a while. Chase Mode is about not getting ‘caught’ / when you are not fast enough the screen will be covered in blood and you will ‘die’, you run faster while touching your display, slower when not touching it. Points Mode is where you have to collect different orbs to get bonus points while running, these will also make you run faster though.
Have you tried this App? What are your favourite goth-friendly / halloween / spooky Apps? Have a nice evening!
